Boston Brown Bread
Mix all 8 ingredients together. Pour into well-buttered bread mold or a tin with fitting cover.
Put mold into large pot on a rack, with cover and add boiling water until halfway up around mold.
Steam 4 hours. Add more water as needed to keep at proper level.
Remove from water, take off cover, put in 300° oven to dry off for 15 minutes.
Remove from mold.
While hot, draw a string around bread, cross and pull ends to cut into neat slices.
Serve with baked beans.
