Neil Shaddox of Hamtramck, MI was the 2018 winner of Fay Butler Best Metal Award for a1960’s VW Bubble Top Car. Neil had the idea 7 years ago, inspired by Ed Roth’s Beat-nick bandit car. The build took 8 months of steady work. Neil Started with a standard VW Bug, lowered 4 inches, while the body is lowered more. Stock cowl and front fenders turned over and used on the side bottom. Neil made gas tank. He used an English wheel doing all the rebuild himself. He found Stellar plastics that made the Lexan bubble top which can be adjust up to let air in.
