Every craftsman’s library should have a technical drawing/drafting book. This was my college textbook that I still use as a reference today. The first edition was published 1936 and as late as 2003 for the 12th edition. This book in the used condition is very reasonable in price. Craftsman making things will be aided by the ability to make a measured drawing of a part, either through mechanical drawing or as a dimensioned hand sketch. A book such as this one will aid in learning standard accepted practices so your thoughts will be more easily communicated to others.

Prior to college, this was the textbook for my high school drafting class.

I also have an earlier version of this book, a 2nd edition copy from 1942. It has only 600 pages and is a smaller format of 6 inch by 9 inch. This was during WWII and there is a section on “Aeronautical Drafting” with larger paper foldouts showing aircraft details not in the later edition.
