Welding Backing Tape

100 feet of cloth; 60 yards of high heat metallic tape.

Metals at welding temperatures are very reactive in forming heavy oxides. When TIG welding using argon gas that's heavier than air, some argon will settle through the crack or opening you are welding. This tape provides a way to trap that argon, keeping the back of the weld shielded from the atmosphere.
