Born and raised in the small town of Hardwick, Massachusetts, Fay Butler has had his shop in town since 1978. He graduated from college and took to the road to learn from others in the trade before returning home to set up his shop in a section of Hardwick called Wheelwright. Fay Butler Fabrications/Metal Shaping is a shop dedicated to the art and craft of metal shaping, run by Fay Butler and his wife Phyllis. They work with materials such as copper, brass, aluminum, stainless steel and steel, creating everything from sinks and counter tops to motorcycle gas tanks, helicopter parts, antique and classic cars, airplanes and parts for concept cars. About once a month, Fay Butler puts on a seminar to help out those who are looking to increase their skills and knowledge, as well as offering tools, books and advice on the topics of metals and metal shaping. Fay has been working with metal since the early 1970’s. He graduated from Fitchburg State College with a degree as an Industrial Arts Teacher. The expanse of his knowledge has allowed him to understand everything from upholstering to shaping and machining, making him into one of the most experienced shapers in the industry. |
